I am Hans Kristo, a Pop Surrealism artist based in Indonesia. Since 2005, my journey has been shaped by over 15 years in the creative hubs of Bandung and Bali. With a dual background in Industrial Engineering and Fine Arts, I bring a structured yet fluid perspective to my visual narratives.
Having actively participated in group exhibitions since 2005, I view the ability to remain consistent and evolve within the art world as a profound blessing. For me, art transcends surface aesthetics; true beauty is found in sensitivity—towards overlooked issues, shifting perspectives, and the hidden nuances of life. My work utilizes distortion to unveil a ‘new reality,’ reflecting a world that is constantly being manipulated. I thrive on exploring the tension between extremes: the space where beauty meets strangeness, and where delicacy dances with the grotesque.
My curiosity for diverse mediums has led me to explore the intersection of art and digital technology. This space opens boundless possibilities for experimentation and new visual languages. The concept of the ‘playground’ remains a recurring theme in my works, as I believe the creative process is an endless journey of discovery—where technology and traditional art forms merge into one.
